8) This is my first post, there are a few small things that need attention on my rig. If I put a light bulb in the dome light above the rear seat it blows a fuse immediately. Got any ideas? The other things wrong are: RHS power mirror does'nt work, I broke the tape player when a tape got stuck, I just pulled it out and took the cassette brace with it, LHS arm-rest is coming off. Other wise I have a good strong truck I've driven 1300 miles in a month. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have a short to power on one of the wires going to the dome light. Since the dome lamp is on the same fuse as the radio and clock memory, power mirrors, glove box lamp, map lamp, ignition switch lamp, and underhood lamp. I doubt the fuse is your problem since you didnt mention if any of these were bad as well. FYI.. the dome light fuse is a red 10amp in cavity 15 of the fuse box under the steering column. As far as the wires running from the dome light, you have a Yellow wire numbered M2 188k and a pink wire numbered m1 188k. Both wires go down the harness that is on the left side of the steering column. Looking at the harness connector with the tab up. The Yellow wire will be on the top left cavity and the Pink wire will be on the top right cavity. This should help you out when doing a common points analyisis of the wiring.

LOL Where were you OKIE when I was trouble shootin mine a year ago??? [laugh]
He is correct on the wire colors. Typically the wires have problems under the floormat area with moisture and rubbing from feet. The harness runs under the clutch pedal pretty much straight back to the seat mount, then toward the door a bit and back to the seatbelt then up the pillar behind the door.

I have a feeling there may be a short in the harness also or a break in the line on the ground side that energizes when you put in the bulb.

I used an ohm meter and a sharp testlite probe to prick the wires on the floor and test each side of the light outlet. This is how I found a break in the line. no resistance on the floor, then some at the leads up pillar...

Let us know if we can help...

J-eh

Go to Autozone, they carry a nice Jensen with display colors that match nicely. Get the installation kit and it looks like it came with the truck. (It also has flip up controls and remote, wont brake the bank)
