I've searched through the old threads and it seems like most of you on here really like the Bilstein shocks. I like the soft ride I have now, but I don't like the bad bounce I get when going over elevation changes. I might need to stiffen it up just a little. I have a front leveling kit on the truck now and will be installing some drop shackles in the rear next week. I looked on Bilstein's web site and they only show one applicable shock for my truck. Does anyone know if making hight adjustments on the truck will effect the way the shocks mount and would the Bilsteins be good for my application? My truck is 2WD.

Nope, you'll be fine. I got the HDs you re seeing on the website (blue and yellow) and they have been great, much better than stock. We're about the same height.

Cant get the 5100s on our 2wds, only HDs

From my under standing is you can do 5100 on the rear only and HDs on the front. Now if you read on Bilsiens site they say 5100s come with a zinc coating (silver looking) or yellow/blue (HD) I assume they are still 5100's just yellow and a few bucks less. I went with the zinc so they'd match the front.
Oh like mine yes a little stiffer on the road better ride and control and they are nice on mild off road stuff.

I LOVE my rancho 9000XL's.... Pick your ride with 9 selects. Change it when you have a load...... Fairly priced.

My 2 cents is Bilsteins are the only way to go. Had the Rancho's and the white body shocks are from my experience all about the same. Last a little while then shell out. The Bilsteins are good for a long time and much, much better ride and control. Go with them and you won't be sorry.

My fox 2.0 Reservoir shocks have done all that was asked of them, but they are WAY too stiff for my driving style. I do rock crawling at a conservative pace to get where i want to go. And the same for mud holes. They came designed for a more aggressive or ignorant driver.

Also I have heard nothing but praise for King shocks, I just couldnt justify paying more for 4 shocks than I did for the rest of my suspension components combined.

I have(had)the Bilstein 5125's on my truck. Had em on for 3+ years. Good ride. Can't compare em to anything (they were on the truck when i bought it) yet. I'm in the middle of swapping them out for a set of Kings from Thuren (his valving)... Cant wait to try em out...

I just picked up a set of Bilsteins from a guy that totaled his PowerWagon. I'm putting them on tomorrow...... WooHoo!!!!!

I'm doing the same this Sunday. Got the Bilstein HD shock for my 2WD mega and doing the 2" drop shackles at the same time. I got some 22x9 wheels with 285/50/22 Nitto Terra Grapplers about 6 weeks ago and want to level it out. I missed the UPS truck today with my Aero Turbine 4040xl muffler. I guess they'll try to deliver tomorrow...glad I'm off on Fridays.

rancho 9000xl's here 9 position adjustability and lifetime warranty. By the way when 1 goes bad you just call and they send you a new one to install. No waiting.

Bilstien or rancho you will be fine.....also rancho is almost 3in in diameter thats a big shock.
