Save yourself a lot of headaches and just replace the VB. They come bench tested and are as close to bolt- in as you can get. It cost me more to diagnose and fix the shift kit than it would have to just replace it. Whatever you do, I'd stay away from Trans-go

I've heard of numerous people with problems but they all had a 47RE. As for making a difference, It does firm up the shifts a lot. I can't say if a kit alone will give you a big change as I did my TC & kit together.

I also have the trans-go kit in my 47re. I had a trans shop install it and it has worked fine. Before the kit I had some fairly bad shudder with the kit it was gone and the shifts are a lot more possitive. After my converter was finnished (took about 2 months) and installed the trans has held up well to everything i have thrown at it.

I just installed a transgo shift kit in mine. I got it off ebay for $50. I really like it so far. The shifts are better, and the TC holds a little better, but i dont know whether changing the filter/fluid did most of this, or the shift kit. I will say one thing. Its a pretty tough installation if you ask me. There is just a lot to do, but for $50 I figure it had to be worth it. One way or the other, my tranny shifts, and just does a LOT better than what it did before, but i also think my filter was clogged up. Id be willing to bet that if the filter/fluid hasnt been changed in a long time, that that could probably help a lot just to change that. I still need a better converter though, because mine still slips bad in 3rd and 4th.

I also did a Trans-go and synthetic fluid at the same time. The shift kit helped alot, but I really wish that I had done the torque converter at that time also. I can tell that I am losing tons of power through it. It will be my next BOMB.
