Shelf life of on road fuel

Im sorry if this has been brought up before but. What is the shelf life for #2 diesel? I am a generator mechanic and know about #1 deisel but not the on road stuff, thanks. Shwartz

Should be no issues unless it has a blend of biodiesel.

Yeah as stated above, diesel in most any form except bio will store for years. You will want to put some form of treatment in it to guard against algae, that stuff will wreak havoc on filters. Its amazing what will grow in fuel. Biobore is a product I have used in the past. Good luck.

I used 18 month old diesel with no problems, like 409 said algae
is a concern.

Thanks guys, I keep 20 gallons of 110 race fuel thru the winter and now that diesel comming down a little 3.25 Im going to stock up on some.

I used a couple hundred gallons that were at least 40 years old with no problem.
But that was the old high sulfur fuel, my bet is the new ULSD doesn't keep as well.

Everything ran the same including my KW and farm tractors.
A buddy of mine did salvage job scraping a barge from WWII that had several thousand gallons of 60 year old diesel in it's tanks.
They used it without problem on all the semis and heavy equipment on the job and for months later.
