Hey Guys

I did a search but i did not come up with anything. I have a 97 2500 and i found a set of seats out of a 01 ram that i would like to buy. Will they fit in my 97 ram or do i need to fab them to fit?

Thanks for your help!

yes as long as the cab is the same style. The extended cab uses different mounting.

I am not 100% certain, but I believe that the late 2nd gen seats from a regular cab will fit the earlier seats reg or ext. cab. The problem is if you try to use the seats from a late 2nd gen Q cab as they are a different design. with the seat belts integrated into the seat.

havent found anything as far as brackets. i have my new ones siting in there. they did come out of a quad. i used the brackets on the seats the 2 back holes will line up. i fab'd some 2.5-3 in. blocks for the front brackets to sit on. havent got em bolted down but look pretty good. oh yeah whats up with the seat belts?? does the harness need power to it to let them extend?? or is it just my seats???

Depending on the model year, yes. Starting in 98.5 and I think up to 2000, the harness needs power to let the seat belts extend. At some point they switched back to the non power style, not exactly sure when though...

I had another thread about the seatbelts not extending on my 99, is there a bad fuse or relay or a bad motor, please chime in, I can't drive it without 4 eyes looking out for cops.

I don't have the manual for the proper year at this point, so I can't be of too much help. I know my 98 has this feature though. Here's a quote found on this forum from Linetrash75 that might help some:

You should look at the fuses in the side of the dash. There are 2 seperate power sources for the seatbelt contol timer, 1 is switched from key, the other is constant on. It sounds as if the switched fuse is blown whick I beleve is #10 the timer doesn't know the truck is running. I had just the opposite on mine it was running the batteries down while parked, seat belts unlocked all the time. A simple fix was to cut the pink wire under driver seat, thus seat belts function normally when truck is running but lock as soon as the key is turn off.

My seat belts work if you pull really hard on them my main concern is what kind of brakets do i have to make to mount the seats in my 97 ram ext cab?

Seat brackets are different between Quad cabs and Std cabs. As some have noticed the mounts at the rear of the seat frame are shorter. The 94-97 seats are basically the same and the 98-2002 seats are the same. From 94 to 2002 the mounting holes are in the same location (all extend cabs are the same but differant from all std cabs) . So you can take seats from a 2000 and put them in an 95 truck, although the plug for electric seats is different. Also early trucks mount the seat belt to the cab and the 98 and later trucks mount the seat belt in the seat. Not a big deal but you end up with hole on a body panel after the old seat belt is removed. The solution would be to get early 98 rear interior panels, ones from a quad cab wont work.
