Seat swapping between the years...

Can be done, but it's not always plug & play...

My '98's driver's seat was gone, done, trashed. It was ripped, worn out, and the lumbar "support" felt like a piece of 1" dia steel being pushed into me. An entire seat swap was in order, not just some foam work.. (The previous owner was a BIG guy)

I won an auction on ebay for a '02 seat that was the same color as my '98 sport, power, and was only for the driver's seat, instead of all 3..perfect!

Wellll..

In '98 (mine's an early '98, not sure if it matters), the connector going to the truck from the seats has approx 10 pins. The '02 had only 3

Apparently, the little "box" under the center seat is not present in the '02's? DC also changed the seat belt minder.. the '98 had a 4-wire harness coming from the seat belt reel, while the '02 had a simple 2 wire deal coming from the latch.

What i did was to swap the harness from my '98 onto the '02 as a complete unit, switches and all. All the seat controls work, though the seat belt light stays on all the time since that wiring is different. I'm going to delve into that one and see what needs to be jumped to make the computer think it's buckled.

Just a FYI...

Your 98 had the short lived "seatbelt module". The CTM took over the duties in late 98 or 99.
