I have a Schwitzer S2B off of a John Deere 850B. Does anyone know if the flange will bolt up to the Cummins or will I need an adapter? I don't know if I'll be getting any gain. I'm just looking to use this because the Holset has about 3/8" fore and aft play. I think its shot. This is on a 94 2wd, 5spd 2500 with 397,000 miles. I picked up the Schwitzer at a sale for $40 and it has minimal play.

The flange may or may not bolt up. The 850 used a 466 cubic inch deere engine, depending on the year and horsepower rating the exhaust housing might have a T-3 or T-4 flange on it. What kind of exhaust outlet does it have? Alot of Deeres used a donut between the turbine outlet and the exhaust elbow, so there is no flange to clamp a pipe to. The compressors are usually smaller too.

3/8" end play? That .375", which is .370" too much. Its beyond shot.

It's got the divider on the flange so I think it's a T-4 or a T-6.

T-3 can have a divider too. T-3 and T-4 share one dimension on the flange, T-4 is larger on the narrow dimension, making it almost square.

No way its a T-6 they are big, its either T-3 or T-4.

I'll have to get a tape on it when I get home. I'd like to know it's going to fit before I pull the hx35 off.

Fit is one thing, how are you going to hook up your exhaust, the oil drain and supply, I know most of those deere turbo's use a 2 bolt flange and gasket for the supply. How are you going to hook up the compressor outlet to the intercooler?

Oh yeh those are all different. Going to need some adapters or creative fab work.

The exhaust outlets on the ones I've seen are not like an HX35 and the housings are huge...will probably have quite a bit of lag. The S2B's are old design too.
You might check with the local turbo shops about a new Holset HX35 cartridge...wheel/bearing/shaft assemblies. Install it on your existing exhaust and compressor housings, connect the oil drain, pump the top oil hole a few seconds with your pump oilcan, install your oil feed line and test ride. That's how I handled my hybrid.

Yeh the exhaust housing is pretty big. I have an Air Research T04 and its about the same deal, alot of modification to fit. I have an H1C on my 4 BT I could pull off and put on for the time being. Maybe I should go the same route you went. Thing is I don't know of any turbo shops here in central Illinois (Decatur/Springfield area).

Thanks man! I'm probably going to rebuild this one. I found this link and it looks pretty straight forward. The only thing is I don't see any torque spec or whether or not you need to preload? I suppose it will be in the rebuild kit. I've seen those on Fleabay for around $49.

I'm back to trying to make the S2B work on my truck. I need the horn that goes from the compressor housing to the intercooler boot. Anyone know where I can find this adapter?
