scanner antenna ??????

getting a Uniden BC796D scanner.. What is a good scanner antenna - and can you put it inplace of the reg. antenna on the truck??

** which brings me to a question - what is the reg. antena used for on the truck... the remote lock or old FM... At first I thought the black dot matrix around the windshield was the antenna but now I don' t know???

I use a Firestik scanner antennae for my Uniden BC785XL scanner. I made a mount that uses a stake pocket hole on the bed. The stock antennae is used for FM reception. Those black dots are just for sun block.

I use the wire ant. that came with my scanner. It has two suction cups and I just stick it to the front window.

Berak - Is that Firestik ant. a dual scanner/cb ant.? If so I might be inclined to install my scanner in a more permanent manner.

It is not a dual antenna, designed for general scanner frequencies. Check out the firestik website for some good info.

I am running a 4' Firestik scanner antenna as well (part #: MSM-4B). Mounted it on the side of my toolbox.
