Saved a stranded 93w350 at the pumps
A guy was stranded at the pump with his 93 W350, it would spin but wouldn't start. He was very mad at the store claiming the fuel was full of water. I asked him if I could help and told him my experiences.
First, we drained the filter and primed the filter back, no good. So I started looking at the pump and noticed the wire has fell off the fuel selinoid. I put it back on and told him to fire it up. It started right up!!!!
He thanked me a hundred times. I just saved him a couple hundred bucks!!
It felt good to help another brother driving a Cummins.

I was in my 97 coming home from OKC... saw a 1st gen club/dual w/ a horse trailer behind it sitting on the side of the highway w/ the hood up. I took the next exit, and backed down the service road and parked in the grass...
they couldn't get it fired up... we traced it down to a corroded power lead to the fuel solenoid.
They were very thankful. I was just happy to think I saved them a ton of hassle and money

i was traveling on hwy 25....to nc....lost all power truck shut off at 75 mph.....lol..I thought ^&%*^&%*^&%!!!! Had it towed about 1.5 hours back to my house, cost me $85 because the guy was a friend. I found after merely minutes of probing around...that my pump had become unplugged....lost the power due to corroded wires. I felt.....stupid....in a word. A few mintues of thoughtful searching would have saved me much time...and some dough. well....thank God that was all.

Can we just pull the plunger, replace the cap, and use a 'pull cable'? The last time my wire fell off was in a blinding snowstorm, and I had to ask a Ferd to pull me home !!!

Guys, there are numerous threads about the FSO selinoid, here is a way to prevent this stuff... cut the slide-on connector off and replace it with a ring connector under the small nut....

there is one that controls the FSO, the other IIRC, goes to the KSB, i think thru a relay first.. If either comes loose from teh FSO, it wont work properly, so its not a bad idea to put a ring on both...
if I am wrong about it going to the KSB, i am sure someone who knows more will chime in here..

yeah, if you traced one of the ones from the FSO backwards, I understand it goes to a relay and winds up being the wire on the KSB... but I am not 100% sure of that... the other goes to the ignition circuit.
at any rate tho, it helps maintain a good connection to replace the ends with a ring...thats my main point..
