Saturday night

Saturday night fever: While the majority of the young male Austrian population is partying away one way or the other, getting blinded by disco lighting ot the like, AlpineRAM is spreadeagled over the valvetrain of his Cummins and busting his knuckles. Removing injectors is fun. (Yes well, except for no 6 maybe).- A small parcel is unwrapped and small chunks of metal that seem to bear traces of human tooling on them appear. A grunt, a shove and the first of these ominous peaces disappears in an orifice between some structures that seem to be the nightmare of the set designer of Conan the destroyer. The troglodyte dressed in blue garments repeats these cultic motions another five times on different spots. Clangs around with shining tools, chants about the arcane numerology of torque fill his head and fine clicking noises can be heard from a device that looks like a stone-axe covered with chrome. At last after lots of curses and growls the blue figure cleans his hands and crawls behind the steering wheel and turns the key. After several attempts behold! There is more to be heard than just the singing of the starter. A promising sputter can be heard. Shaking the sculpture enchanted by the blue troglodyte awakens to it's unholy life. It starts to sing in deep throaty tones about wreaking havoc on the streets. Soon the rasping and shaking subsides, it's replaced by an hoarse humming. Little blue troggy moves levers, pulls switches, presses pedals and maneuvers his statue out of the driveway. Mere minutes later it can be seen leaving the village, little troggies watery eyes scan the gauges, watch that the needles are in the positions recorded as proper by the book, and after taking a deep breath steps on a small rubber covered metal plate below his right foot. Yes, the generous offer of rubber smoke shall please the deities! Blurs that stir vague recollections of familiar landscapes in the troglodyte are zoomed by the windows. As the heaters do their work the troglodyte thaws and becomes AlpineRAM again.
After the test drive there is a new piece of knowledge on this side of the pond. DonMs injectors are somewhat impressive ;D

Re:Saturday night

You know, as much as I love my CTD, on a Saturday night I'd much rather work over the injectors, check the pop-off pressure, shake, rattle, and roll -- and lay down smoking rubber with my other "significant other".

AlpR, you need to find an alternative life experience -- and hurry up about it. . . .

Re:Saturday night

Alpine, before reading that all I wanted for Christmas was a Red Rider 200 shot range model air riffle . I think I'll change my wants to injectors now ;D or perhaps the ability to write something as cool as that.

Well, my wife is the one that makes me modify my CTD (I'm trying hard to look innocent, don't laugh and spoil the effect )

I am a computer technician now, but had a professional education as a car mechanic in a race car shop. I've spent some time globetrotting and working in lots of different places. With the increased amount of computer control in the vehicles I do find myself drifting back into the automotive sector. Since I want to specialize on US vehicles I use this site for brushing up my English besides gaining lots of knowledge on the DTD Ram. My English is basically high school level improved a little by reading and travelling.

To get back on topic: (John Cleese:" And now for something completely different&quot
The Mach3s do hit hard in the low rpm range and make the turbo spool very fast. Smoke is absolutely controllable. In na average situation over here you'd eat the trunk of the vehicle in front of you before you came to putting out smoke. Cruising EGTs are a tad lower than with my old stockers (Can't say for shure because my pyro is freaking out), I'll have to look into fuel economy. The sound of the engine can be described as properly diesel now. I did like the fact that the injectors came with the O-ring and the copper washer installed and packed in little plastic bags. This is a good way to ensure that they stay clean until you drop them in. They seem to have an excellent matched flow and are very linear in their response. Therefore there is no lope at idle. I feel that they do offer a really nice kick in low boost situations without smoke. (Yes you can produce smoke, but it isn't necessary to do so to leave the line quickly).
LarryJ- I'd definitely ask Santa for the injectors. Shooting past sportscars in a truck is much more fun than shooting at them with an insufficient caliber... (If it had been a 300mm howitzer.... ;D )
eieio: Partying is quite cheap over here.... until you get caught for driving under influence. I think that not being able to show off a nice headache on sunday isn't that much of an inconvenience
