sandblasting wheels

Hey all, I just had a set of factory painted aluminum wheels gave to me but the clear is really scratched up. my local powdercoater/car restorer told me I could sand blast the wheels with low pressure and fine medium to get the paint off then polish the spokes back to a mirror shine. What do you think. I have access to a small blaster. Would sandblasting weaken the wheel? I have sanded and polished car wheels before with good success but not on a truck that tows. What do you think?

You're not going to hurt a thing. Sandblast away and have fun with the polishing.
