Sad sad day!

Well its a sad day, I had to watch my pride and joy being hauled away on a roll back. I was towing 13,000 including the passengers up a 6% grade for about 3 miles. I had been on the road for about 50 miles and the temp was fine but it went from about 190 to over 230 in about 5 miles and before I could get pulled over it made a loud bang then went dead. I looked in the intake and I know the turbo is froze up and you can see where it ate into the housing. I'm not really sure what broke but I will not turn over. After alot of thought I think the turbo has been going for a while and I wasn't getting enough air which caused the EGTs to go high and the engine to overheat. Which brings me to my two questions. 1 am I correct. and 2 I would like to go up one turbo size, what would that be and where can I get one. Thank you to anyone who replys.

I dont have any, didnt think my mods were enough to cause trouble. I guess we learn from our mistakes they wil be put in before the next time I tow. I've read other post saying the stock turbo is enough for up to 350hp which is what I have. Is this true.

you were towing with a modified truck, and you didnt have a pyro???? you probley could have saved your truck if you would have dropped 250 bucks on a pyro and a boost guage!

pulling over 10,000lbs up a grade, loaded with passengers with 350 hp on a stock turbo is enough to get too hot.

now you say that the engine wont even turn over?

Hindsite is 20 20. I know I suold have had them but at the time I didnt have the money. Oh well I just have to move on and learn from my mistakes. Yea its locked tight. I think it might have Hydrolocked with fuel or water. If need be I have found a complete motor to go back in. when we get home we will tear into it to see how bad it is.

I had an cummins tech build my motor and he checked when he built it. I didn't need alot just alittle bit more. The more I think about it and the more I read I think I had a boost leak that caused the whole problem. Now I know if I had the gauges then I could have avoided the whole situation thats is why they are the first thing on the list to go in with the repaired motor.

"Happieness is a high power hemi"

It refers to the old 426 hemi. It came off the back of a 69 hemi dart that used to draggrace in the 60s and 70s.

I doubt it is hydrolocked with oil or water unless you drove it through a lake. If it's seized up it's because one or more pistons are melted to the engine block cylinder walls.

Sorry for your bad luck, better include gauges in the new motor build-up

Does anybody other than BD offer a gauge package that has a LCD display screen with all three displayed for the 94 to 98 12v motors. I would like to have something like that.
