Depends on which S480 you have. Typically a S480 is 80 mm inducer and 109mm exducer for the compressor. The turbine is 95/88 with an A/R of 1.32. This info is for a borg warner pn#177287.

I've run a BTH-3B, its inducer is around 75mm, so its abit smaller. I used to have one but sold it off.

I've run both a BTH-3B and S475, both work well in twins. The S480 will just have more top end power as its rated at 120lbs/min vs. the S475 105lbs/min.

Borgwarner just release a few new turbos verisions for the S480

What you putting it on? hopefully you can rev up the motor or that turbo will never spool. I ran one as a single sorta. I was running twins 40/bth-3b set-up. I just had to see what would happen if what would happen if I opened fully the wastegate on the 40 (the 40 had a larger wastegate flapper than stock). They do make a 23cm housing for the BTH-3B. Its a monster of a turbo, and will spool like a slug. Of course if you have fuel and 5k rev limit, you could probably spool the turbo.

You could try the 3b, but its a ton of work to build-up a twin set-up for that turbo, for a turbo that might be to small. You could go with the S480, as its easier to get a different turbo to fit into where the old 480 position. The 3b, configuration is different from the rest of the turbos out there. Which class you planning on pulling in? Garrett T-88 are cheap, I bought one for $500. Its a 88mm inducer and rated around 130-140lbs. I think that they are nearly the same thing as the newer GT4718, but I warn ya, its a big heavy monster turbo. I think that they use them on 18L diesel engines. Another monster turbo is the HT-4C. At that point you'll need the 13mm pump set for 900-1000cc of fuel. Prior to building, I would do some research on the competion diesel forum, they are more of the hard core pullers there.

So where do you pull at?

If you spin 5k you should be able to spool it.

your truck is NO where near 750 to 800 hp your truck is probably in the 550 to 600 range tops. you will never be able to spool a 3b your truck dropped a tremendous amount of rpm's with the little 66 you were running last year. u can do it in a twinset thats about it.
