S300G Wastegate Adjustment

Bought an S300G that does not have the adjustable wastegate rod like BD installs. I know I can put shop air through the hose to determine what PSI it is set at, but how do I adjust it without using a boost elbow? Do have to disassemble the actuator or is there another method? Thanks.

You cant. It's a fixed rod. You either need a boost elbow or buy another actuator.

I see that BD has a turn barrel on thier actuator rod. Why couldnt an acutator be removed, cut, threaded and then install the turn barrel on the rod and re-install the actuator. I tried the boost elbow and I dont know where I want to stop my adjustment. Should it be when the gate is full open or when the rod just starts to move? I tested this actuator and it is set at 25 psi, that isnt going to get me very far with my fuel mods. Thanks again.

You could dial boost in with a manual boost controller.

I hate using the elbows to adjust the wastegate. I can never tell if there is a boost leak or the air bleed is making noise. My BD twins has the S300G top turbo. It was bought early enough that it did not come with the adjustable waste gate rod like the current ones. Assuming that you want to increase boost, I found it is fairly easy to add a spacer, sandwiched between the wastegate and its mounting bracket. Removing the two mounting nuts and using shop air to extend the rod will separate the wastegate actuator from the bracket. Here is a photo of the spacer I machined to fine-tune my turbo. If machining a spacer is not an option some smaller washers cut into a “C” shape and placed on both of the bolts will work also.

That is a great idea, just dont know what thickness is going to get to me the right boost number. If you had that it would be awesome.
