?'s about pulling head off 24v
Just wanted to know if there were any little things i need to know before i pull the head on my 99, installing new HG, head studs and injectors, and new springs, so would like to know whats involved in doing all the above. Thanks for any info..

Pulling the head is pretty straight forward. Drain the fuild down, remember to unhook all your sensors, remove your injectors and disconnect the fuel return on the back of the head, remove all your rockers and push rods, keep them in order.
Find a machine shop that will deck the head, it will most likely be out, might as well do o-rings if you plan on more horsepower.

Need a helper for pulling or cherry picker or both. Remove injectors before pulling and install injectors after head is on. (damage tips setting on flat surface) PUshrods come out through plastic plugged holes in cowl. Support rear head bolts with rubber bands and same on install.

One possible 'gotcha'. The rearmost pushrods won't clear the engine bay. There are some holes in the sheet metal to faciliate removing them. You have to remove some plastic covers to acces the holes.

Head remove
Injector puller would help!Keep overything clean and cap off everything so dirt does'nt get in, all new gaskets o rings etc take a big piece of card board and make holes in it for your head bolts so they go back in in sequence the way you took them out, also valve adjust a must, take head to a machine shop and have it checked. Did you blow a head gasket, this would be a great time to change your injectors valve springs, remember dirt is your enemy!

I think i have blown the HG, i'm using water now, right after i installed the water/meth, i was pulling a hill and it i got some pretty good pops out the stacks, ever since then i've been using water, so new springs, head studs and gasket going in.. as for oringing, is that something i should be looking into, before i'm done i'll probably have twins on it..soooo? Probably good idea huh? Thanks again for all the info.. about how much time should i be looking at for pulling the head? Thanks again..

remove your cross/transfer tubes before trying to pull the injector it selfi have seen people forget and end up having to replace the injector and the cross tubes

Just did a head gasket in mine this spring. The injector lines will come off in two groups of three and stay in their clamps, much easier keep track of that way. You don't have to pull the injectors themselves, your machine shop can do that if you bring the head in. If you don't pull them be careful not to smash them, they stick out slightly below the head suface, only set it down on wood blocks with the blocks between the injectors, also transport it this way. I duct taped blocks to mine on the ride to the shop and back. And bring the head to a shop that knows the Cummins head. Pull the hood before you start, it's much easier with it out of the way and use a cherry picker it's even heavyer than it looks. Mine took 7 or 8 hours.
