S&B Intake with AMSOIL Dry Filter Installed...

Well fellas...I got my AMSOIL dry filter installed. It fits like a glove! The base of the filter does rest against the wall of the air-box but I dont see any issues with that as its snug onto the intake tube. It clears the plastic cover as well....

Looks great in there too. Took it for a quick drive...it almost seems like there is more whistle maybe or I might just be crazy

Anyway...this is a perfect filter to fit our intakes! I also just ordered an Outerwears Pre-Filter cover to keep the bugs off the filter and extend the service life a bit. Only $26...

Here are some pictures installed...

Looks good. Why did you switch from S&B to Amsoil, if you don't mind me asking?

Heh, just tired of having to clean, wait several hours to dry, and then re-oil the filter. Not a big fan of oiled filters as well....my experience with them on ATVs is not a good one and that also has applied to my preference on my CTD.

Mostly just for ease of maintence...

Oiled filters just plain suck.. The maintenance required is quite a bit more than a dry Amsoil filter. Looks great dude. The 4070 is a good filter. I am gonna pick up a 4510 for myself, with some PVC for an intake setup.

That looks great. Looks like I will be ordering one for my intake to replace the oiled filter. Where would you get the best price on one if you are not a "Prefered Customer"?

They are all the same price from AMSOIL directly or from your local AMSOIL dealer as far as I know....best bet is search and find a local dealer. Do the prefered customer program and buy your stuff locally. Somebody might wanna correct me on this...

My invoice for my air-filter was actually cheaper even with the $20 prefered customer program fee because it knocked so much off the filter's price...

It really depends on who your dealer is. If you are not ready to do a preferred customer thing, and you don't think you will use Amsoil products besides the filter, then preferred customer might not be the best option. If you would like more info, you can always PM me.

RedRacer44, after having your new filter installed for a few days now what are your impressions? Is it louder that the S&B filter was? Any performance difference that you can tell?

I dont think its any louder than the other filter...i think that was all in my head. As far as performance gains...ehh, doubt it...nothing I can tell from the butt dyno.

I'm just happy to get away from the oiled filter....the Outerwear filter cover should be here this week as well...even better!

Thanks for the input. I am placing an order this week for one. Could you give me the model number of the Outerwear cover you ordered and maybe who you got it from?

The part # for the Outerwear is #20-1239 and that fits the filter I have, the #4070 AMSOIL filter. I just ordered mine directly from Outerwears, not sure if that was the best place to order or not but that was the easiest place to find the cover that fit the filter.
