S-400

I have been researching and dont know the differances. I have been garthering up exhaust manifolds, head studs, and things like that. I have been thinking of putting the s-400 with my stocker for now. But i know there are differant size frames and such but what size would i need.http://www.fleetsource.com/Turbo_Chargers_s/157.htm They have got several differant kinds and prices waht are the differances. i am sorry if i sound like a dummy.

The deal in buying turbos from big truck shops are several different part numbers can be the same turbo, but the compressor housing is in a different position. There are several trucks the turbos go on so the outlet is in just a hair different spot, that is why you have several turbos with the same description and price, just different part numbers. If you look at the pics on the site you gave, you can see the difference in the way the housings are clocked.

Basically a S-400 is a S-400, you just have to make it fit. There are some companies that will trick out the bearings, shafts, wheels, and housings but are more expensive.

The difference in the $1300+ turbos is, they are waste gated, and that is a whole other bowl of worms, on how you want the turbos controlled.

I think the Arctic Air Twins kit from Relentless Diesel uses just that, your stocker with the s-400.

Your just going to have to research things out. Many posts on S400's, K31's and GT42's.

I think you'll find the s400 flows considerably more air than a Ht3b,.. depending on the housing I believe it is in the 25% to 40% more. I saw some specs recently but don't recall exactly where.
