RV generator shutting off on its own

I've got a Power Tech 7.8KW generator (3-cyl Kubota diesel) that will run fine until I activate the coach power solenoid and then it will shut off within 2-3 minutes. The fact that it runs fine and produces voltage (measured at the power transfer switch) would lead me to believe that the engine and generator are OK but that something is triggering the shutoff solenoid. I have watched it and when it shuts off, the plunger solenoid connected to the shutoff lever retracts to kill it so it appears to be an electrical issue as opposed to a fuel issue. Also, it will restart instantly once it shuts off so I don't believe that it's fuel starved. It just had an oil change and is holding good oil pressure so I don't think it's a safety shutoff. There are 4 separate places where the generator can be started from but the fact that it runs for 2-3 minutes when power is activated and 15+ minutes when power it turned off makes me think that it's not a sticking shutoff switch.

Any thoughts or suggestions on where to look to track this down?

I suspect either a transfer switch or power converter issue.
What is the "coach"?

The coach is a '94 Vogue Prima Vista.

Based on circumstantial evidence, I'd agree with the transfer switch or converter issue but I haven't logically been able to wrap my head around that since there is no auto-start feature on this generator. If there is no auto-start, would there be any way for either of those devices to shut a generator off?

hard to tell without a wiring diagram on engine control but a guess would be a heat sensor(water/oil ?) as the operating temps would probably rise faster when you put it under load.
