Does anyone have any suggestons on an effective undercoat/rustproofing product? Here in VT we usually use oil, but it washes off pretty quick. Amsoil has a "heavy duty" corrosion inhibitor with wax, and so does a Canadian company called Dominion Sure Seal -http://www.dominionsureseal.com/products.asp?CatID=4
I like the idea of a wax based product. Any success stories or brilliant ideas?

Don't know any over the shelf product but in Canada there is a company called Krown Rust Control. For many years they have been rated the best. Take your vehicle in to them, they drill holes all over it and with long rods with special spray tips get into all the hidden nooks and crannies. Takes around an hour to do. Their 'oil' is a proprietry product and creeps in everywhere. Even appears to defy gravity. You can purchase their product in aerosol containers but do not know about large quantities.
Years ago I had some rusty wheel nuts that would not come off. Was afraid of breaking the studs off if I forced them much more. So sprayed some of their oil on the nuts. Next day the nuts came off easily. What really impressed me was the fact that the oil had gone thru the nuts, past the wheel and was creeping up the brake drums. Amazing!!! Every stud had oil going up the brake drum.
Their stuff does not damage or stain upholstery. It even seems to clean electrical connections, so you can spray it everywhere. Truly amazing product. Had my vehicles sprayed for years and even in that harsh, salt laden winter climate, there was no rust.

seriously though. Por 15 is the best product on the market and will always be the best product. U can spray it over exsisting rust and it will harden and protect everything like a rock.

Only three winters so far. Last one was really rough where I live. We had three days at surise where the temperature was at the freezing mark. One night it rained and next morning found that the rain drops had actually frozen. However by 10 or 11 AM the temps have always reached around 60 degrees. It's a rough life. :

I'll check both products out, although driving to Canada is probably out of the question.....I just hate watching a $33000 engine cover get rusty!

check out 3 m's undercoat stuff, did mine is way better than the auto parts store stuff IMHO

Do you mean the rubberized stuff, and if so, did you use aerosol cans or a gun of some kind? Where did you apply it? Thanks, Bryan

nah used aerosol can of ruberized stuff, looks as good aor better than factory or prof installed cuz it only cost around 20 bucks to do truck ;D
