Rust!
Not sure if this is in the right forum but I'll post anyway. I bought my 93 in Colorado., originally from Arizona. I moved and for the past 6 years I've been in Raleigh. I hardly ever drive my truck anymore. +- 200 miles per year. Thr brake res. is rusting, the frame and tie rods ect.. I have the time, but probably not the skill to remove the body/bed and sandblast everything and get it back running. Any thoughts? Selling my truck is NOT an option. Rich

yeah, I vote restoring it. These trucks are surprisingly easy to work on. To be honest, you don't need a lot of skill to take the body off these old beasts. And 2 strong guys should be able to lift both the bed and cab right off the truck. I would strip the cab of most it's contents and doors before trying to lift it off though.

Ya.. just takes time.. They sure do look good with some fresh paint on the frame and all that.. 2 guys lifting the cab or box off would be a job.. I've done it with 4 guys and that is the min. them are country boys too, not no city slickers wearing shiney sneakers..lol
But a southern truck shouldn't be too bad I wouldn't think. Brake master cyliders all rust unless they are painted. But, most likely it still has 17 yr old brake lines on it which probably need to be addresed regardless.

RUN! Run for your (truck's) LIFE!!!! Back to AZ, CO, NM or UT. Well, that is until they started putting salt on the roads...

i bought my 93 ext cab in april, i stripped the box off, (two 16 yearold country boys did the trick, me and my buddy lol) beat the frame with a mallet to remove the scale, and put rust protector on it. already did the brakes, just need to pulmb new lines, and put on patch panels (rockerpannels, cab corners, fender patches), a skim of paint and shes good to smoke out all the little white rice cars around!

^^i agree if you take the bed off you can get most of the frame cleaned and painted. the rust under the cab can be removed easily enough from under the truck if its not really bad and then you can paint it with srray bombs or just a roller wich ever you like best

They really are incredibly simple trucks, built in the same basic way all old vehicles were up until the "modern" cutoff in '94.
To get the cab and bed off I'd recommend doing what I did and find some camper jacks on Craigslist. I got a pair for $25, plan on building another pair too. I really wish I had done that 10 years ago because it makes restoring vehicles so much easier. For a truck cab you'd basically just put some 4x4's through the door frame, resting on the jacks, and crank it up. They look like this: http://www.crbrophy.com/image/cxhd.jpg
