Rubbing sound from up front

the rig has recently developed a sort of pulsing rubbing sound coming from up under the hood. At about twenty mph it pulses about 2x per second, at 30 mph about 4x per second. It doesn't seem engine related as it doesn't correlate to rpms. Also, as I'm turning left the sound goes away and then comes back when the wheel straightens up. I'm guesing its related to the front hubs or something like that. I realize this is a long shot, but just curious if anyone has any thoughts.

update: it's gotta be something wrong with the rotors, I think they're rubbing since it seems I'm getting some modulation on the brake pedal. I think my brakes overheated or something on the way home because by the time I got home they were barely working. That was a little frightening pulling off the highway.

update #2: pulled the tire off, looks like massive hub failure. Wheel bearings are sticking out sideways... posting a new question in the Help section
