Rpm's

I just bought a 03 ctd from my dad which he owned since new, it has 85k on it now, ,,, the rpms do not fall fast enough for me, its been like this since it was new,, when i get it above 2 grand it falls slow.. My past 04 and 06 fell great,,, is there anything i can do to fix this???????

The rpms fall back real slow in between shifts especially when it get over 23 grand it falls very slow and you have to wait on it, so you can make the next shift

If it is hanging rpm's that bad it is most likly injectors. Anyone with a starscan should be able to diagnose the problem, or having an injector bypass test done. I have seen trucks do what you are describing and it was always injector related.

Been like that since it was brand new. I would like to see the rpms fall faster between shifts, like my past 04, 06, or even my 02...

Tends to be a normal trait with the manual CR engines. Mine does it, seems to be less noticeable with the Smarty though.

bad injectors. get off the computer and get it fixed fast. i had a bad one do that and it stuck open while i passed someone and it melted a piston

Well, it has been like this since it was brand new, it has 85000k on it now- don't ya think something would have went wrong with it by now!!!! It runs better everyday i drive it, and gets 20-24 mpg...

Its normal, its pressure bleeding off from the rail from the high pressure fuel.
