Has the rough idle been just since changing the LP? Has it been on multiple tanks of fuel or just this one?

Mine will idle rough every now and then, but it usually goes away with different fuel.....

I get the same thing on mine every now and then. I've got about 80K miles on it. Based on my research and taking it to a good CTD shop, I've concluded its most likely injectors starting to show their age... where I buy the fuel has some impact on how ofter it acts up. I've also started using heavier doses of RedLine, which seems to help. But I don't tow with my truck so I'm told it's likely carbon build-up on the nozzles.

Mine does this in the Winter months when I have been busting through snow drifts. If I can get it in somewhere to warm it up and melt the snow and ice that is built up on the underside, it goes away.

Rough Idle

thanks everyone for the info, been out of town last two days. No lift pump just the fass fuel system, just outside of Phoenix,Az.weather is not that cold. Iam just put in a fuel cleaner for the injectors, I believe its power service. I always use a truck stop for my fuel. Thanks for the help,Ill let you know if it goes away. What a great Web site and informative.

This is very true. I have had a contribution test (with the StarScan Tool) done on my injectors after a several weeks of driving around empty for work and it showed my injectors all over the place. I also had the same test after a 300+ mile run pulling my camper at 60 -70 mph and the injectors were all within +/- 1% of each other.

Have the injectors checked, I did and they were, #2 & #3 were dead that is. Lucky I guess, truck still ran, just got all 6 replaced with 60hp Performance Diesel injectors. Nice and smooth now, I think I need to dyno it and see what all of the mods have done for me.

I have had the same problem. I took the truck in and they told me #2 injectors was at 93%. I have been running some Power Service cleaner through and after pulling my trailer last weekend, I think it is a little smoother... But the writing is on the wall and I am saving to replace the injector in the future... They are not cheap; ^)

don't waste your time having just one replaced, do them all. If you sve to have just one done you will going back into it shorlty after to do another one. Yes the injects do cost but the labor isn't much more to do one or all six. I just had 60hp injectors installed for $3500, well worth so far.

I have heard that advice from others so I will be saving for a whole set. Wish I could get better core values for the ones that still work..
