rough idle

Alright guys. my wife, kids, and myself were on our way to a friends house for dinner. "She" was driving, she gets on it to pass a vehicle from 55 to approx 75 and the truck makes the pass. We go up to the red light approx 15mi up and the truck will hardly hold an idle. I instantly tell her to pull over, I remove the smarty and nothing changes? (beta 4.4 on software level5) it has been an ongoing thing. I (John @ Floor-It) have been thru the cp3, I put a rail cap on while I was there, and a new set of DonM's injectors, John personally ran the overhead valve adjustment. I am at my wits end with this thing. The strange part of al;l of this is that it seems to be a hit or miss thing. By that I mean that on some days at some times, it purrs like a kitten, on other days and other times it cant idle right to save it's life. I am getting crazy good fuel millage and as far as I can tell, if I get the rpm's up(fast idle) it goes away? It idles like crap and misses and white smoke blows out the pipe. Any suggestions?? Any help would be GREAT!!! Thanks in advance, Aaron.

I occasionaly get a rail pressure voltage too high code. I believe it is 0088? Im not certain on that. I always have the 0234 (overboost) code but I believe that is because I am running the twins with no boost fooling. But, that is the onlt codes that I have gotten in the past few weeks. Also, as I said, this is a hit and miss kinda deal. Even when it is running rough, there are no codes. I personally just don't know what to do as I have no electronics on the truck and when I do download the smarty it seems to have no apperent effect on how it runs (idle wise). Thank you for your reply though. If you have anymore suggestions I would love to here them. Thanks

Can they test the injectors for you? Might be a solenoid holding up on you every once and a while. It it was a sensor causing the problem you would usually get a code right away. I know Don has great injectors but there might be one with a bad solenoid.

With a good scanner you should be able to check the operation of this sensor. You can see the desired and actual pressures. It would be a good idea to check that as well.
