Rough Idle/Stalls when cold

I picked up a 95 2500 4x4 and have a few questions. When I first start the truck it will rumble and stall unless I hold the accelerator down for a minute or so. Then it seems to idle fine. I know nothing about these 12V engines so any help would be appreciated.

I'm currently rebuilding the front end. Just did 2 new rotors/calipers/pads yesterday and still have to do tie rods to fix very bad steering. I cant wait to get her on the road.

Thanks
John

sounds like your idle is to low, have you changed your fuel filter? Might also need to replace your fuel lines they can leak and cause hard starting. these are just a few ideas.

I thought about the idle being too low, but once it warms up a little it idles fine. When you say fuel lines, do you mean from the tank or on the engine. I just recently picked the truck up with 218000 miles, so I havent changed anything yet. Still trying to get it on the road with the steering issues.

from the tank all the way to engine. I'm talking about the rubber fuel lines not the hard lines. If you change these out go ahead and put a new overflow valve in as well.

I agree with Plow,

Seems to me that the idle is gone, The idle is easy to bop up if u have thin arms and are tall, use two 10 mm wrenches, ull need them, and If you look at Infidels photo gallery he has an engine diagram with the rubber lines in red, so u can use as a guide to know what lines to replace..

You should be idling at 850 rpm with it in gear and the a/c on.
