rough first 5 miles
Truck has been starting past few days fine, Chicago has been in the low teens past few days, last night was in the single digits.
This morning, truck fired up fine, had it plugged in all night.
Got out on the road, and started sputtering, almost like an air in fuel situation. Then I would go into N and give it some fuel, would seem ok, then would do it again when driving.
Once the truck was more warmed up, problem was ok.
2 part question here. because ive had a loss of prime issue last few months.
1. i looked at the fuel pre heater, the wires on the top of it are fryed. therefor the fuel heater itself cannot be working, thus sloppy cold fuel running through this morning.
2. I also noticed fuel around and maybe even dripping from the manual primer on the engine side, anyone had a leak from there?

the seal around the manual primer button can leak in the LP. check threaded connections first. the fuel heater/t-stat can be ordered from cummins(>$50). the element is in the canister and the t-stat bolts on the top with 2 small torx bolts. they are a PITA to get to.

hey, what was the deal with your ABS light? mine comes on a few seconds after starting(along with the brake light), and stays on. i was thinking maybe the abs sensor? rear wheel abs only on these trucks. i would love to not see these warning lights anymore, and black tape isn't acceptable.

well, off the topic but you can check your abs module codes to help solve the problem.
If you just want the light off and don't care about abs, you can just unplug the module. it's a 5" square part right behind the cover over the floor hump.
careful not to unplug the airbag gizmo.

sometimes the "O" ring can go bad that is inside the primer housing. Easy fix if you know about it. I replaced my lift pump when the "O" ring was the problem. Live and learn.
