Rotors Disenigrated

Rotors Disenigrated
I have a 97 2500, and as I was driving, my truck started to shake really badly. I pulled over and walked around, couldn't see any thing wrong, so I started it back up only to find that I had no front brakes. I limped home and pulled my front tires, only to find that the entire stopping surface on both my front rotors wasn't there anymore. Does anybody know what could have caused this? I had my brakes start squeeling only a week before, like I needed to replace my pads soon, but there was still pad left when I checked it.

Could be a few things:
Pads too hard for the rotor, these are usually the "lifetime warranty" type.
Caliper not retracting due a dirty/rusty cylinder.
Brake line falling apart internally causing it to behave like a one way valve.
Bad rotor bearings.

Pads wear uneven and appear good when not. Calipers hanging generally a cause. Driving with foot on brake pedal. Poor maintenance or none.

My truck did start pulling to the left side about the same time that the pads started squeeking. Would that mean I should rebuild my calipers, just to be on the safe side?

Well, you could rebuild or replace the calipers but I would first pull them and insure that all the sliding parts and surfaces are cleaned and lubed. This cured my truck of pulling.
