Rot below the doors?
Well, i just bought a new truck and its got the 2nd gen rot on the panels under the doors. How hard is this to fix? any easy quick fixes? The drivers side is a hole, but is not into the cab or anything so im not too worried about it, just would like it to look nice someday.
Any Ideas?

I caught mine before it got too bad and all I needed was new door skins. I think yours may be a bit too far gone for that though from the looks of the pics.

Sorry, didn't look at the pics close enough. I think LMC truck sells replacement rocker panels. Page 47 of the catalog I believe. Not sure on the quality though as I haven't purchased them myself.

Hey iker, glad to see ya found a new ride.
Here is the part# from LMC (Yrs 94-97) 56-9230, 52-9231. $59.95 each.
If you have access to a mig welder your good to go
As far as quality is concerned, I have nothing but good to say about lmc products. I have been useing them for a long time to rebuild my chevy.
If you can, do the repairs asap. You don't want it to creep into the cab(don't ask how I know).

I've got it pretty bad on a couple of my doors, but not on those panels. Last fall, I stripped off the loose stuff and put on this product called rust bullet as a temporary fix to get me through at least this winter. Nice product, but I don't expect it to live up to the longevity claims--removing and replacing the rotted area is the only real solution.
I've been planning on getting the replacement panels from the same place that's been mentioned and will weld them in this spring or summer. I bought a nice Hobart Handler 180 wire feed mig welder last year. I always wanted a welder but could never justify having one until this project came up.

You can repair it with a little welding and a crimp tool for door skins if you dont want to replace the whole part. I did mine that way actually, since I didnt want to repaint the door completely.
You might want to inspect your rockers, cab corners, forward cab mounts and fenders for rot too.
The stuff under the truck accumulates sand and junk that traps water so it should get blown out with compressed air every once in awhile.

hardware store, mom and pop style shop, ask the man at the counter, and he'll be more than happy to sell ya a bottle......... as long as you don't keep it on your hands too long, its not that bad, but do not get it in your eyes.

I had the same issue especially when you run 285's for tires. I id replace the passeneger side with a rocker palne replacement and the drivers side had rust which we grinded and restoleum'd the inside and took it over to LineX. the only screw up is I should have had them do the wheel well as this winter I have a little rust showing through. Dang these IL-WI-MI winters. This truck has 400 K on original paint and probably 100K on the LineX, no flaking yet.
I do not know how the Autozone roll on kist do and my play around on the wheel well just to try as it is cheaper.
Sorry the pictures aren't the best but it was out forst warm day of the year and took all day to clean the truck
