Right Wheel

Need yalls help and opinion real quick. Ok my truck has stock 16x5" plain steel wheels shoed with 265 AT tires. The tires are almost brand new so I don't see any reason to take them off unless the truck gets lifted or something similar. The wheels though look nasty and pull the sidewall of the tires in quite abit. I wanted a wider black steel wheel to go on the truck but didn't know how it'd look. I sanded, cleaned and spray painted the current stock wheels flat black and I really do like the look.

I want a wheel that isn't extremely wide(so it won't eat hub assemblies) and I want one a black wheel. I might step up to a 305/60/16 or 315/75/16 later on in life but still don't believe I'd want a 10" wide wheel on my daily driver. I've searched and about figure the RockCrawler Series 51 wheel would be best for me. Click on the highlighted name there to go to the 4wheelparts link to the wheels. Thinking a 16x8 with the 4" backspacing would be pretty good for me.

I'd like opinions though,I know that's the wheel(or something extremely similar) that I want, want to stay 16" and want 8" wide. Mostly wondering on the backspacing. Is 4" backspacing to much, not enough, just right or ??? The tires thats on the truck,265s,are the ones going back on the wheels so you'll know for sure.

I'll check to make sure I have a picture of my truck on here, not sure. My truck has 17x8 wheels with 4 5/8 backspacing and you can see how much they stick out with a 12.50" wide tire. This is the same width as the 315/75/16 tire, so you'll probably need fender flares if you want to keep the mud/dirt/gravel off the sides of your truck. It may be difficult to find, but an 8" wheel with 5" backspacing would tuck much better.

Well the sticking out doesn't bother me that much, its just the fact that some of the guys were saying that if backspacing isn't set somewhere close to right that it would severely shorten the life of the hub assemblies. That's the biggest thing I'm worried about. The truck will almost turn a circle in it's own path as it is which sure is great around some of the narrow roads and turns out here in the boonies where I live so I didn't have a wheel to hang WAAAAY on out there that would really hurt the turning radius. I think the 4" would be alright and do what I needed it to do. Figure if I can get a set of 305s(33"ers) on there, and wouldn't have any lift or stuff to worry about on the truck and I'd be happy. Just the fact that the fenderwells are so huge and the wheels so narrow it makes the truck look wimpy LOL

Well it looks like there is one pic in there now. I added a few more, but they require admin approval before you can view them...
Let me know if you want a picture emailed to you direct.

I don't know about the steel wheels, but the alum stock wheels have 6" of backspacing! So, if you're trying to stay close to the engineered specs, get some of the forged stock alum wheels. 16x8 and stout. Paint 'em if you want.
Ditto on the funny looking trucks with stock 265 or 245 tires in the monster wheelwells! I figure there's a reason they made them so big, so I filled 'em up. To each his own, but my way is always best!
