retrofit lift pump in 98.5

has anyone else had this done yet? after having this installed i was expecting to see my pressures back up to 15psi @ idle but its only 9-10psi. so i called the service manager and expressed my concern and he said they do not go by fuel pressure anymore but by 1.33 liters per min. now, if the stock LP had to have 15psi. @ idle wouldn't the new pump? without changing out the fuel lines to much bigger lines would your pressures not have to be the same to produce the same amount of fuel? also when i @WOT my gauges drop to 0psi for a second but no hiccup in power. he told me that my gauge was useless because it doesn't need to be @ 15psi anymore. i wish they would have expained more to me when i quizzed them on this cuz i would probably went a differ route. the last thing he said was that they haven't had one come back since they started installing them. i just don't want to be the unlucky SOB to be the first one to have an IP taken out listening to them.

They've only been retrofitting them for a couple months though,
stay tuned, I'm sure this is a continuing story.

I've installed a couple of the retro fit kits on VP equipped trucks. On one I road tested it with my fp gauge installed and was able to get it to drop to 1-2 psi under WOT. Good or bad the jury is still out.

After hearing several reports of stock trucks pulling the new in tank pump down to 0 psi at WOT, my jury has reached a quick, no brainer verdict......that pump stinks!!! All that trouble for the in tank pump and now some guys want to re-install the Carter up front as a puller again in conjuntion with the new in tank pump?!?!.......um, no thanks....I'll stick with my stock Carter and Smartfuel and enjoy adequate fuel pressures on my slightly bombed truck.
