RESUME help
Well the time has come for me to switch jobs to get back home, with the wife and kid. (That is a whole story in itself....) I've been at my current place (Intel) for over 4 yrs (4yrs in Aug), and its really seeming like a deadend job for me. I got hired out of ITT so a "strong" resume wasnt really needed. I need help on trying to get a good resume together. Anything online? or any thing to reasearch on? Any of you guys good at this? My wife wrote my last one as well. Would it be good to have a couple different styles? This was never my strong point. Help?

This is what I did when testing for Fire departments....
Go to Staples, Kinkos, someplace like that....Get some folders that have two pockets on the inside, and a window on the front...DONT get some crazy neon color, get something dark, but bold...Dark blue, dark red...Whatever
Type up a nice cover letter, and slide it inside the window...
Then inside, put your resume on one side, and COLOR copies of your degrees, certificates, etc. on the other side...
This makes your resume stand out from the rest...It will be seen among the stack of paper resumes...And shows you put some effort into it....
Your cover letter should have your name address, phone number...All of that good stuff...Just express your interest in the position, be courteous....
When typing it out, be VERY attentive to detail..VERY...Spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc....
Dont overload the resume....They dont need your life story on paper...They'll ask that in the interview...Do show how and why you are qualified, but dont overdo it...Its a fine line....

2500CTD,
Try to keep the resume down to one page if possible. Be blunt and to the point, keep the fluff down to a minimum. Managers hate reading resumes that are written like novels.
So what's your occupation at Intel?

It is a good idea to have your resume' professionally done and as previously stated Kinko's does a good job. When I look at a resume I like it short and to the point. If you get a resume' made at Kinko's take it home and modify it to suit the job that you are applying for. Are you willing to relocate? We (Halliburton Energy Services) are hiring field service engineers and it requires a great deal of computer skill. Excellent pay and benefits. Another good company to look into is Schlumburger. My son got a degree from ITT in Houston and went to work for them. You should be able to find both companys on the web and see what they have to offer and the positions they have open. If I can help let me know.

resume...yeah never understood that term for this either.??
Never thought of Kinkos.
At Intel, I'm basically a glorified factory worker. I'm in the cleanroon and run the tools that prints the design on the wafer. hmmm laymans terms.. Basically I mark off where to dig holes. But only on a much smaller scale
The area is Lithography/Metrology
I have a BS of science in Electronic engineering from ITT. I would perfer to get back to FL. We already have a house and like the area, but if the pay and benfits are good, we would probably relocate.
I started in going to AZ for 3yrs then to OR. My wife is starting school in Jan in FL, and her course is 1yr, but after that who knows. It will depend on where the money is.

2500CTD - I PM'ed you back and just wanted to be sure you got it (or that I did it right). MikeyB, we have offices all over Houston and the big one is pretty close to Tomball. It is on the 8 Loop and 45N. What kind of skills are you selling?
