resistor on the pump wires?
I posted this last week and didnt get a reply...........perhaps someone will read now that i took the word "ferd" outa the subject...........lol
I suppose some of you have heard of the 10 k mod for the psd?
its a really cheap way to add fuel. consists of a resistor and a little electrical wire goin into the fuel pump wires. i know very little about it...........and was jw if an expert could give me a lecture on y it wont work on the CTD?

Your going to have to do some more research on this resistor thing on the ford maybe go to one of thier websites and do a search, and come back and explain as to what they are doing,as my guess on the responses you got on your first post would give you a indication that no one here has any info on it and or it is not applicable to our Dodge trucks???? The resistor mod is usually fooling either the rail pressure sensor on the common rail engines to see lower pressures and therefore to increase effective pressure or the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor to make the computer believe the air is colder and therefore allowing more fuel. As far as I know the Cummins is a little too clever to gain much of it.
This is just generally speaking since I don't know exactly which resistor mod you mean.

The resistor goes on the ICP sensor (Injector Control Pressure) for a PSD as it is a HEUI fuel system. Basically it just lies to the ECM telling it that the pressure is too low in the High-Pressure Oil System...resulting in a much higher pressure over all.
If you really want one to run put a 5.6k resistor in there....Or if you REALLY want one to run, put in a 4.?k resistor (can't remember the exact value of resistor off my head).
You can't do this on your truck because you don't have that type of fuel system. (not that there isn't something similar that you could do.....I don't know I'm really new @ this cummins stuff)
Hope that helps,
-Ryan

I've seen them used in inline pumps used with a ecm. there put in series with the wire that tells the ecm where the rack is, making the ecm think that the rack is not as far as is should be, so the ecm trys to move the rack even farther. On the dyno it makes more horsepower at rated rpm but it flattens out the torque curve
