Replacing VP44 today,, some questions

Well I started at 9.00 am and it is now 11.00 and i have the old one out.
My replacement has the words "remanufactured in USA" stamped on number plate. My old one does not. I am just curiuos as how can I tell if my old one is the original.

If it is not painted it is most likely original. Replacements are always painted black. Just be careful you don't get any paint chips in fuel lines when installing also be glad that remanufactured in Mexico isn't on label

All the reman. I've seen are usually stamped. On the top cover, are there any numbers?

Well i did one warm start and so far so good. I did notice one thing. On my old pump i could spin the taperd shaft very easy almost as if there was no friction inside. The new pump had some resitance when i spun shaft. Maybe my head was wore out. I am going to take old one apart on Monday just to satisfy my curiuosity.

Well i made 330 kms trip today and the truck worked excellent. It started every time I wanted it to. Overhead was marking 21-23 mpg all day on the highway. I will do an actual check on paper when i fill again.

I wouldn't take the old one apart if you need to send it in as a core.
