Replacing Tow Mirror - Any Tips?

I'll be replacing my driver's side power tow mirror this weekend. Does anyone have any helpful tips? I'm just looking to avoid any pitfalls others might have already learned the hard way.

There was a thread a week or two ago, and another one maybe a month old containing tips. I replaced the passenger side in 30 minutes using those tips, an easy job.

Its real easy to do, just pull off the door panel(Philips and 10mm I believe), disconnect the door lock/window harness, then just remove the 3 bolts that hold the mirror to the door and disconnect the wiring harness on the mirror, then reverse to put it back together.

Yes - very easy.. Just did one today at work.

Remove the two screws at the bottom of the door panel, the one near the door handle, and one at the top left of the door. **Slide the door panel UP** - don't pull it out, or you'll break the tabs off. You can pull the door panel away enough to access the three 10mmm nuts that retain the mirror without pulling the door handle off. Don't forget to disconnect the electrical plug as well. Should be a 10 minute job.

I changed driver and passenger out in under 45 min. I found it easier to do with the door panel completely off. This requires taking the interior door handle off, so you will need a torx bit to do this. The power window and lock plug will have to be disconnected as well as the mirror electric. Cant remember what size torx, but I do remember it was a large one. Also, I used a flat screw driver to get the retainer clips on female side of the mirrors electric plug through the door.

Do it with the window down so you can hold the mirror to keep it from falling to the ground.
