Replacing rear lamps
any tricks to this? Things to look out for?
On the way to work the "lamp out" lamp lit when I hit the brakes. I'm guess a brake lamp is out (though I couldn't test it by myself yet). How do you replace them? It looks like the assembly is held in by two torx head screws?
Just looking for advice on getting in there easily and not breaking anything...

I realized that "accessories" is probably the wrong category for this but...
I got my son to help test and it's my right brake light out. Kind of nice to get a dash warning for that. Now the hard part. I am pretty sure those two torx screws are involved in this but after those come out it's not so clear what next. My mechanic buddy said just pull on them as hard as you can and just before you break it the lens may come loose instead...
Any other advice? I've googled for a picture and cannot find much.

Take the two torx screws out,the t/light assy is held in by two plastic prongs and yes you will think that is going to break but it will pop out, on the wiring plug in the back of the lamp housing push the red clip out, but not all the way, remove the plug at which point you can take the 4 phillips head screws out of the lamp rail and replace the bulb, i usually do all 3 since i'm in there and save the good ones for later, my 03 goes thru brake bulbs on the l/rear like 2 or 3 a year i bought a combo torx tool and keep it in the tool box,w/the old bulbs.
good luck,it easy
PS: us a stick or? between the seat and brake pedal if yer alone.

I'm guessing I can push on it left to right OR right to left -- not top to bottom or bottom to top and just kind of pull on the edge with my fingers. It seems tempting to try to use a screwdriver on the edge but that seems like a recipe to crack the plastic for sure.
gotta project for lunch now.

thanx for the advice...
I ran out at lunch and got a the bulb. I was happy to see just how much play I got in the lens with the two torx screws out but initially could not get that lens to budge. I finally figured out that the clips pull straight back and slightly away from the vehicle but they are pretty tight. The silicon idea would have been good. I got a little help from a mechanic instead who used a plastic pry bar to break it loose.
Now I know! As posted - it was "easy".
