replacing abs control module

I have still have my brake problem. I had my codes checked and found two codes, one a system time out and second is pump motor circuit open which I was told there is a ''internal short in the ABS controller and pump assembly'' which remedy is to change module.

My question is if I change this myself and bleed everything out will the computer reset itself or does it have to be ''flashed'' by a dealer. I was told by a Ford tech. it should reset itself, but this is a Dodge. If I change it, how will I know if it needs flashed and would it do any damage if I road test to see if the problem still exists. THANKS

replace the module and the pump motor if you don't you will most likely wipe out the new module as the pump motors is probably shorted. any scan tool that can read abs codes should be able to clear them. shouldn't need a re flash. the abs light will go out on its own upon start up as long as there are no current codes as soon as it sees a fault it will come on. so if you just replace the parts and bleed it out the light will go out but the codes will still be stored in the computer
