remote start w/ intake grid heater
so since my parents would probably kill me if i plugged in my truck w/ a block heater and jakked up their electric bill, im pretty much stuck just letting the truck idle for a while in the mornings. so ive been thinking bout getting a remote start kit for the truck, so that i can just push the button and not even go outside. but the first thing that came to mind is, how are the grid heaters/ wait to start going to work??? are their specific remote starter kits designed for diesels that automatically let the glow plugs/ grid heaters ect run b4 they start??? thanks for the info guys, youve been a great help so far in my diesel newbieness....

Instead of spending all that money on a remote start kit, you could just get an inline timer for the extension cord. They should have them at any hardware store. You just plug the truck in like you normally would but have the timer plugged into the wall outlet and the extension cord into it. Set the timer to come on about an hour or two before you want to leave. That way the truck is warm and easy to start but the electric bill isn't sky high...
