Remember Pearl Harbor
64 years ago we were attacked savagely and with out warning by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor Hawaii. Sadly many have forgotten how easily that horrible blow was enacted upon us. Thousands of Americans died not even knowing that we were at war.
It happened again to us in 2001, and it will happen again and again if we do not stay vigilant. Freedom is not free by any means and there are forces at work all the time trying to steal that freedom from us.
Don't let it happen on your watch.....Remember those who died on that December 7, 1941 and what it took after that to arm ourselves to put down that evil empire. We were not equipped to handle that situation and should consider our selves very lucky to have won that war.
We must remain strong with a resolve that we will not allow ourselves to be attacked in this manner again. That means for us as citizens to vote representatives into office that will strengthen our ability to defend ourselves, not tear it down.
Peace is a very expensive commodity, it cost billions of dollars and American blood to maintain. Remember those who gave everything so that we can now enjoy the things we take for granted daily.
God Bless our Soldiers of Freedom and keep them safe where ever they are.

I will second Lary's sentiments, we must remain in a constant state of awareness, else we will continue to be victims. It does not take a holiday for us to remember the men and women who don (or donned) the uniform every day to protect us. They do not do it for the pat on the back, nor for the financial rewards. They do it because they believe in the United States, and what it stands for. And please remember our representatives and senators actions when it is not an election year, if they do not act accordingly it is time to let the move on and get someone who still remembers what a great nation this is, and will vote according to their constituents wishes. It is up to us, the common man, to keep this nation going as our forefathers wished. Enough from me, God Bless our Military.

I believe there has always been evil in men who want nothing more than the extermination of their fellow man. It will be this way as long as mankind is allowed to exist. There was a general apathy and false feeling of security then as there is now, but I feel it remained or returned much sooner after 9/11 than after the strike on Pearl Harbor.
The other differences that I see this this time is that we are not unified as a nation as we were back then. I blame this on two factors. First, politics have polorized us to a point where I personally believe it weakens us as a nation and bolsters the opposition. Just imagine how weak and rediculous we look to the terrorists when we are so intent on ripping ourselves apart over issues that have either long since past, or have no bearing on the path that must be pursued now. Can't be very reassuring to the good citizens of Iraq, nor can it be very good for the morale of the our brave troops that are laying it all on the line to protect our ingrateful *****.
Second factor that comes to mind is the destructive effect of polictical correctness run amuck. How rediculous that we are worrying about furnishing the very people that want to torture and lop off the head of every American with lawyers. Then what....house and feed the guilty ones for life, catering to their every whim? Who knows what we would be willing to give to pay the masses that we find innocent to compensate for the humiliation and anguish that we imposed on them. I am sure some liberal judges would agree with the class action lawsuits, and maybe we could get away with something less than handing over the country to them......maybe.
The terrorists see mosques and churches as ideal targets to either blow up or for gathering more heads to lop off, and we criticize ourselves for not looking away when we hand them their Koran with gloved hands.
I prefer the approach that was taken by the Scots when they adorned their shields with the phrase "None strike me with impunity". Either grind em up and turn em into Diesel or scatter that parts in several seperate graves that all face due WEST!
Gotta go mail my donations to the USO, Wounded Marines, and Homes For Our Troops.
God Bless Our Troops, and while I am at it: Merry Chirstmas!
Don't get me started.....ehh....Too Late!

God rest their souls.
December 7th is one of those days that sure takes the wind out of my sails because as a sailor I truly understand the horror that many of those folks went through.
It is very hard to keep your composure while standing on the USS Arizona Memorial and looking at the names of those lost that day. It's a very humbling place.
I hope that Shortround takes the time today (which knowing Bruce, I am certain he planned to already) to pay his respects to the Memorial and pass on the respects of those here at the DTR.
Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmates, and God bless all those who died in the attack.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was dealt with in no uncertain terms. I wish the same could be said about the more recent and more deadly attack I experienced personally. May God bless our men and women in uniform, past and present.

God bless those that seved & died in the attack on Pearl.
I was stationed in pearl for awhile & was living in the barricks on Ford Isl. Had a very humbleing experience seeing the movie Tora Tora Tora at the Ford Isl theater. Walked out of that theater & the USS ARIZONIA MEMORIAL is right there. I had goose bumps on me that were big as golf *****. Oh what those brave men & women went through.
Here is a link that a buddy of mine sent me this am. http://www.managedmusic.com/beforeyougo.html

I was in Pearl Harbor in 2001 for the 60th. Had left for deployment early because of 9/11. Pulled into Pearl Harbor aboard the U.S.S. Pearl Harbor and bearthed across from the Arizona. Had many Congressmen and Senators come aboard plus many of the Pearl Harbor survivors. Very sobering day considering that we were on our way to Afganistan after leaving Pearl.
Thank you to all who have served and who are still serving today.

Thanks Lary.
May God bless all of our Service Men and Women, both past and present.
The length of time that has past is irrelevant. Whats important is that we never forget that Freedom isnt free.
Rich.
