I like the idea of the self sliding hitch that Pullrite offers, but the price is considerable and you have to adapt the pin box as I understand it, and therefore you'll only be able to pull a trailer that has the adapted pin box.

I like the Reese because many speak very highly of it and it seems pretty bullet-proof. Is there a huge difference between the regular and signature series aside from looks? What would ya'll recommend?

Found a seller on the web that will ship for free until the end of the month. Are these hard to install?

As far as controller, looks like the BrakeSmart's the only way to go... Install hard?

I like the Pullrite quality. That is why I bought mine. Can't comment on the slider but have heard great things about it. My buddy has one and feels it is worth the extra money. And YES, BrakeSmart is the only way to go.

I'm happy with my Reese 15k. It's simple and easy to remove if I need the bed. The price wasn't bad and it was fairly easy to install. Lots of measuring just to be sure before I drill. I don't have the slider but the bed rails and the head are the same.

PullRite does make an awesome hitch especailly if you need the slider. Yes it is a little spendy but I think it is worth the extra money. They do make an adapter for you to use on your trailer so someone else can tow it if necessary. You can still tow someone elses 5vr but just be very very very careful because you loose all of your slide capability.
Some will tell you that you don't need a slider but for the peace of mind I think it is worth it. Besides it's cheaper to get the SuperGlide than to have to repair your truck and your 5VR[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
Personally the claw or latch mechanism on the PullRite is better than any I have seen. It actully closes completely around the pin. It's nat the cheap bar or the dual claw the closes at the center of the opening. There is NO doubt when you have a good hitch.:D

Yeah, I got a shortbox (guess I need to update my profile a bit:( ). Priced the Reese 16Signature out at just over 1,000 bones. Pullrite was considerably more than that and I don't even recall if that included the rails and install kit:confused:. Looks like I got more homework to do:rolleyes:

Pullrite is complete kit with all mounting brackets including the pin box adapter. It is pricy but well worth it in my openion. You can still pull other 5ers. I have a car hauller with 5er hitch and all I do is stop my pullrite from swiveling with two pair of visegrips, then the trailer 5er rotates on top just like any regular 5er. What you can not do is pull your trailer with the adapted pin box with a regular hitch without removing the adapter.

The signature series Reese is a big improvment over the regular Reese. If you get the signature get the 18K as it has the 4 way pivot. Here is a link to a writeup I did on the install.

I don't think I recall seeing an 18K signature. I'm looking at the 16K Signature and if I'm not mistaken, it does pivot front to back, side to side. I'll have to verify as I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on this hitch. Thanks for passing along the link!

Is your Reese a signature series?

If money is not an issue, hands down the pullrite is far superior, yes the pin box adapter may be a PITA but it is worth the ease of operation. I am a hitch tech and have installed both, (pullrite and 18k sig series reese) the reese has a billion little parts to assemble and killed my flat rate but both can be installed by a capable handy man.By the way the reese isn't all that cheap in comparison either.

Check out rvpartscenter.com for pricing. Best price I found by far. Ordered on tuesday & had it on friday. They carry both brands. I went with the pullrite Super5TH 16k & the Super Rail mounting brackets. I like the way the jaws lock, it's as close as you can get to a big truck.I'll be putting it in today if the weather gives me a break.

Where did you find "no drill" Reese mountng brackets? I can't find them, and I am just a littler curious about the price.
