Redline info?

I am buying a redline off of a guy, and I heard it shuts off all the guages in the dash...is this true...if so can you bypass that...i mean be honest it might see the street for some test runs and with no speedo might make things wierd...and how high of rpms can you run on a dodge without first replacing and valve springs? what kind of numbers are guys running with these things cause they seem pretty wild!

Whooooaaa, slow down there a bit....

Which Blue Chip box are you talking about?? Ive never heard of any box that shuts guages off on the dash...I believe you are misinformed.

We need some info on your truck....What year is your truck? Do you have guages including fuel pressure? Have you had any tranny mods? Do you have an upgraded fuel system? What other mods are on your truck?

The bluechip boxes tend to be pretty aggressive and can be hard on your injector pump if you dont have the required fuel system upgrades.

BTW, Welcome to DTR.

Uh, ok....thats a serious box...

Are you still running with the stock turbo? Im no expert by any means but it seems to me you will need more fuel, and more air, among other thing.

With your current setup, at WOT how much FP do you have ?

Valve springs are a good idea for rpms like that. A fluidamper wouldn't hurt either.

And a redline is a definate pump killer- so take it easy with that thing.

I agree. The redline will take your new injection pump out in no time if run on max power. It's definately not something to be taken lightly. I highly recommend valve springs and a fluidamper to help keep things together. Maybe a cam also to help the engine breathe that high. Your also gonna need a bigger turbo to support that box. That box requires very good fuel pressure and I'd imagine lots of air to run at it's utmost potential.

My opinion on this box is that it's only for use on fully built drivetrains. You'll need much air (like twins) big injectors, and a lot of stuff like O-rings, studs etc to keep the headgasket in. The pistons will hate you, so ceramic coated crowns, arias rings etc are nice to have. To get the air into the cylinder you'll need a cam with higher lift, therefore valve springs are necessary, head porting and manifold porting etc while it's off are necessary to get the full benefits. A fluidamper will help to keep your crankshaft in one piece.
Now you've got the power at the rear crankshaft end, but you will need to take care of everything that's behind that (clutch or auto tranny) and then some more to get the power to the ground (traction bars etc) and it might be a good idea to think about stopping power too
Just my 2c
