Take it from me. Don't let the Sox suck you in!

Been there, done that. 1986... Buckner.... Never again.

I maintain, Sox over NY in 7.

Then:

World Series, Houston vs Boston

Game 7:
Clemens beats Pedro and Sox. How prophetic.....

Steve,
Schilling will discover that his ankle is just too tender to pitch and will be out in 4. Lieber will 4 hit the sox and strike out 7 with a walk. Yankees 6-3 in 9 tonight.

I remember the '86 WS very well but I'm still not giving up.

If they make it past the Yanks this time there'll be a whole new series to enjoy.

Factor in the Pats and us up here in Mass have no complaints in the pro-sports department.

Last nights game was great to watch, lots of excitment.

Sorry Nik, but no way.

Put on your X Files hat for a minute and think about this:

Schilling got shelled the other night. Healthy all season EXCEPT for this important game in NY. Sox lose, brink of elimination, blah blah blah...

Miracle comeback in what, a combined 29 innings, to take 2 straight. Back in the game, yadda yadda yadda.

Back to NY for the last 2, uh-huh. Right....

Schill pays a visit to Our Lady of Blessed Advertising Revenue and takes the healing waters.
Pitches a "miracle" game to bring the "rivalry" to an amazing game 7. Pedro starts and stops the dreaded Yanks and thus, sets himelf up nicely for free agency.

The world stops and watches the high drama as Budweiser sells a ton of beer, Chevy sells a million cars and Fox Sports rakes in the ad revenue. Tickets go for 5 grand apiece...

This series should have been over in 4 or 5. But Fox and MLB want it to go 7 for the almighty $$.

Its the same all the time. Pro Baseball is no better than WWF wrestling or NASCAR. It's all fixed.
Series go 7, games go 14 innings. Las Vegas and the networks make a bundle on gambling and ad revenue.
Only the sucker fans don't seem to figure it out.

But I'm not bitter......

Steve,
Repeat after me:
"It's not the Bambino's fault. It's not the Bambino's fault... "

Truth be told, I HAVE noticed that the time between innings and inning halves has seems to expand to 7 or 8 minutes or just precisely about 5 commercials. The "TV Time Out" has not only made it to baseball but altered the game itself.

A buddy of mine is a season ticket holder for the Red Flops.

He waited at the park on Friday eve for the game. They called it at what, 8:30 or so? He maintains that they knew at 3pm that it would be called off due to rain.
They waited until the last possible minute so they could satisfy the advertisers. More ads = more revenue.

It's all a scam.

Kinda like the Dodge scam. Buy a $40K truck and we'll throw in the block heater cord for only $10!
