recommendations for dash crack repair
I just picked up my first truck used. I love it. Its an 2003 with a 6speed and tows amazingly well.
wow the dash is cracked in a million pieces. I was futzing with it and one chunk fell in, luckily I was able to fish it back out.
What are you guys doing for dash covers or repair?
- I hate spending 400 or anywhere close to that for a new dash. Is there a cheaper source for brand new dashes?
- I saw a cover that was silicon glued ontop of the cracks that looked good. Is there danger of chunks continuing to fall in and make the cover a poor idea? the price was better
- my least favorite idea is a carpet cover, but its the most affordable so I won't completely write off that idea
what are you guys doing?
thanks in advance everyone!

Mine was falling apart 2 years ago. Pieces falling into the dash. Thought I'd hate the grey carpet. I love it. Fits great, stuff doesn't slide around and looks good...wife even likes the look.
Took an afternoon w/some fiberglass repair mesh and resin to bond the cracks, then on went the cover. An INEXPENSIVE, easy, functional solution that looks good to boot IMHO.

Another vote for the dash matt. Wasn't crazy about them either but was even less crazy about a ugly cracked dash. Ended up getting one from Geno's & the fit was very good. As mentioned above, it helped cut down on the glare and I thinks it's helped make the cab a little more quite.

sold..
sounds like an affordable solution
I need to figure out if fiberglass or ? would be the best way to stop the chunks from falling.... I suppose I could glue the dash matt down? anyone do that?

Does anyone know what kind of plastic the dash is made of? I was woundering if PVC cement which basically melts PVC pipe and then it fuses back togeather would fuse the dash plastic.
