Rebuilt HX35w is this nut OK?

Hi I just got a new rebuilt HX35w and I not sure I like the condition of the exhaust fan nut. it appears to be a 12 point style nut but about 3 of those point are ground off on one side and a bit less ground off on the opposite side of the nut. Is this done to balance the shaft? Also why is 1 vain on the inlet and outlet fans painted white? It has no perceptable in/out play but has the basic up/down movement of about 3/32nd buy eye. Mainly, whats up with the nut grind?
THANKS

The "nut" on the back of the shaft should be part of the shaft assembly, including the turbine wheel and shaft, front to back. Sounds like that's how they balanced it. The paint marks should be to index the compressor wheel to the turbine (exhaust) wheel/shaft.

the white mark is probably a reference point they used to balance turbine. The grind marks are also how they remove material to balance it.

Like everyones mentioned, its the grinding done to balance it. Just imagine how fast its spinning! Should be fine, my stocker has it, as does a hx40 I have sitting in the shop.

Thanks guys,
Now I'll feel better putting this on the truck. I'm always a little worried when I take a chance on a E-bay buy on a unit reputedly rebuilt buy an outfit called D&W Diesel. A big Garret turbo shop. I got the unit for $411 shipped. From what Iv read, this is supposed to be a straight up drop in job...hopefully thats the case.
Thanks again for responding.
