Well I've been chasing a vibration for weeks now... and thought it couldn't be driveshaft u-joints because I had less than 20,000 miles and under a year on them...

WELL I WAS WRONG. Rear joint was TRASHED. About 1/4" play when I pulled the shaft.... Plus my driveshaft was slightly bent. My driveline guy installed a new NEAPCO joint, balanced and straighted shaft and rides better than new. For what it's worth he said stay away from Precision joints and also said our trucks are notorious for killing rear joints.

On a good note I had him look at my front driveshaft which I removed trying to determine cause of vibration and it's perfectly fine.

Moral of the story is just because something is new or somewhat new does not mean it's good... not by a long shot.

I wonder if it had anything to do with 1200 ft lbs of torque and a Georand tranny?

Honestly, I only did one burn out in the last year... but it was a big one...

It's the torque that kills them. Figure 60k miles and time to get them replaced.

My rear unit tried to lock up, but Mr. Cummins said, oh-no. Twisted the ears pretty good before I could get it out of there. New driveshaft under warranty.

Mine in the shop now for rear U joint so told them to replace both with one I can grease. BTW a lot of people have used Precision joints without problems and wonder if its all comes down to how they get installed..

My rear end u joint gets replaced about every year.

I have used Precision with no complaints.

559,000 on the truck.

Well... you're averaging about 110,000 miles a year so I wouldn't complain either..
If you had to change it out every month or so that'd be another story...

I've got Precisions all the way around and have had no problems with any of them.

I am on my third one right now and it has lasted over a year. Right about 1.5 years.

Mine must've been an anomoly. But I've changed brands. Once bitten twice shy.

Hard to say.

I had one of the rear u joints only last about 50,000 miles.

My truck is mostly highway miles, so that could easily have matched yours.
