What is the difference in the rear suspension between a 4x4 and 4x2. Are the blocks different heights? Different spring pack? Number of leafs?

I'm pretty sure the only difference is block height. The 4-by's get a hefty block (at least 4-6"), 2wd not so much. That is assuming your comparing two similar trucks, like 2 2500's or 2 3500's, or 2 2500's with camper packages...etc.

My 2wd has a spacer block that is a little under 1" and the 4wd trucks I believe are 4".

Also check the width of the springs - my 4x4 is three inches.

If the only difference is the block would their be an issue with removing the 4x4 blocks and installing the 4x2 block to lower my ride height?

May cause reverse rake when you load it, I would assume you would be either level or have a slight reverse rack with out the load.

Seems like there are different packages. My 3500 has 2 overload springs. Saw a 3500 yesterday without them. I picked up a chassis with springs yesterday. It was a 98 2wd service truck. It actually had the same blocks as my 4wd, had the 2 overload springs, and even had 2 extra leafs in the pack. Even though it is from a 2wd I think it will work great for what I need.

Someone correct me if wrong, but aren't the overloads part of the "camper special" group (along with the rear sway bar)? There might be another option package they come with, but I'm not sure.
