rear axle noise while braking
My 2004 dodge is making a clicking, rocking back and forth kinda of noise while braking only when almost at a complete stop. it doesn't do it while at higher speeds just when mentioned above. The noise is coming from the rearend and doesn't make the noise when in neutral, only when in drive. What would be making such a noise? It almost sounds like when a person rocks the truck back and forth and hears gear backlash but loud. Would the tranny be trying to engage and disengage, too much crown to pinion clearance, transfer case chain/gear trouble?...Anyone else have anything like this happen to your trucks....
Any info appreciated....thanks

Possibly brake pads, frozen caliper, u-joints, sounds like you need to check out the truck and then come back with what is ok and not. Start simple and then move to the complex stuff.
