Rear Axle assy.
As many of you may know I have had trouble with the 11.5 AAM axle and it was rebuilt by the dealer, after rebuild the noise is worse, so I finally convinced Service manager to order a new Axle assy. on the 11th of Aug. I am being told this order is a vehicle off road order to speed up delivery, but after 1.5 weeks parts dept still doesn't have a estimated time of arrival date. Has anyone here had their axle replaced and how long does it take to get one? I sure am missing my 99 CTD right now

Re:Rear Axle assy.
Called the 800 number for Dodge this am and was told that the axle is being released today, should be here in 3 days. I think this may have been a ******* problem more so than a Dodge issue. Dodge Rep wouldn't tell me when the ******* ordered the axle, I think that it probably wasn't on order two weeks ago as I was told, imagine that!

Hey my Dad's truck is a 03-2500 4x4 CTD. He has been saying that when he makes a turn his rear end is making a grinding or a grabing sound. Is this the noise you are talking about? He took it into Dodge and they didn't fix the problem. :'(

That grabbing seems to be the normal activity of the "new" Americal Axle. Mine does it also. Worse backing up. But it does hook up at the jobsite and get me outa there at 5pm. ;D
