Ok guys time to start thinking about that 300' mark. I have a date set for the 24th of May
Where?? right here in Ole Houston/Raymondville.
This year should be great I'm tryin to git the dyno down from Floor It and there will be all kinds of classes hopefuly some tractors too.
I'm thinking about havin after the pull, Back to Back pulls and some dirt drags hope all of you guys can make it or at least some of you.
It would also be a great G2G for the chapter,( PistolWhipt help me out here) I know the dyno is a plus for that.

I have several buddies with diesels, a good mix of strokes, max's, and cummins. I will spread the word about the pull, is this a sanctioned pull by association or just something you are throwing together. Yeah we aren't far away at all.
coreydr2003
01-22-2008, 05:08 PM
No sanction but I aways have a set of rules, to make things fair. We try to follow the DHRA rules there has been some changes with DHRA so we will see how things work out.Ill hve the sled from MHTTPA here and there whole sanction but the diesels will be my rules. Yeah please spread the word. This will be the 5th pull I,m hosting here.
Thanks

Man that's a long way offfff. I went to a pull today. I had to pull the kids around on the sled. Not with my truck though. I'll get those ladder bars and weight rack put on you and Sat volunteered then I'll pull.

Its a long ways off but It will be on your mind I know, as for the wait rack and ladders I'll drop by some time let you look at them even leave my rack with you if you need. Wish I could help but I don't have time to work on my own I still need to pull the cam, head and clutch not sure when I can do this busy, busy. I'll do what I can thought.

Yeah my buddy pulled with the DHRA last year so those rules aren't hard to follow. I am curious to see what they change though with the new people.

So how many HP do you have to have to tear something up? I need to stay just below the tear something up HP. I got to have this truck every day to work with. No down time allowed. I want to pull just not tear it up.

So if I can pull loads in and out of pastures and barn yards that weigh 34k and not tear anything up, what kind of HP does it take to kill a SB COFE or a drive line? I figure the motor should be ok just the parts around it could be problematic.
Gear Jammer
01-24-2008, 01:18 PM
(34K) is that gross or just what is on the trailer?
Tree DR
01-24-2008, 02:17 PM
Average gross 34k. 39k several times and 42k heaviest. Got in and out of some vary easy to tear something up situations.

01-24-2008, 03:02 PM
42K is a helluva load. Hauling logs or what? I don't think I would reccomend that every day. Do you have a scale ticket for that? That would be one to frame. [laugh]

I might be able to find the ticket. Nope didn't do it every day that's was the exception. Normall load 34k. Truck and trailer about 15k load 20k. Stock tran and clutch for about 100k no problem with clutch 5th gear not would come off and had to put them back on. Trying to get in and out of barn yards was the fun part. Slideing backward down a icy driveway was fun didn't jacknife it. Put it in reverse and went about 50yds to the bottom and just grazed the fence on one side, only 26k gross though. Lots of other fun stuff too.

How many bales you talking? I had 390 on a 32' earlier this year. It was straw though. [duhhh] They averaged around 45 lb. apiece though. Wire tied, tight bales. I had roughly 17,550 on the trailer.
Tree DR
01-25-2008, 05:52 PM
Only about 260 bales at about 75 lbs each. 300mi loaded from Eastern KS to Northern AR through the Branson hills. Pulled those hill at 45mph. 97 with 3.55 gear little extra fuel and 16cm no wastegate exhaust on turbo straight piped. Made a little noise, but it sure pulled good. Never had a pyro on it so who knows how hot it was getting. I was pulling 4 loads a week for about 2 mo's a year. Did that for about 3yrs with 2 different 97's.
Tree DR
01-27-2008, 09:07 PM
So what HP could I pull with and not break the drive train? Drive shaft would be my biggest concern. Anyone got a set of 3/4 ton stock tires and rims I could use to pull with. Can't tear up my dually tires.

From what I understand, yes. I hear most are going to work in conjuction with the Show Me Smokers Series, though details are still being worked out at this time but these assoc will be working with/running with the smokers plus the smokers having their own pulls. Alot is going on with the smokers, I think things are only going to get better in the state of MO thanks to them.

That was the average load. Bales were a little heavier some loads and I added a few some times for the customer. 42k was the heaviest. My brother actually scaled 49k but went back and unloaded some.
What's that hp level I need to be looking for?
Anyone got a set of 3/4ton take off tires and rims?

I saw one thread where a guy booked a room when he left Indy last year and they told him they didn't have enough rooms for him to stay there recently. I'm guessing you might have to stay a few miles out to find a room or just take a sleeping bag and use the 8ft bed that will be with you.

I was told the same, did the same thing, but I'm getting a room now. I'm staying the 30 and 31 and leaving the first. Most will be traveling up the afternoon of the 30.
