Random Click when trying to start 97 12v

Well over the last 2 or 3 weeks 3 times i've had a click when i turn the key to start the truck, just a click, nothing else. Does it a few times then it will start. I checked the batteries, both are 12.6volts so i dont think they are the problem. Could this be the starter starting to go bad? I remember reading something about starter contacts as well. It looks like the original starter(had an orangish chrysler/cummins label on the starter. Thanks in advance for any input, i dont want this to strand me.

You hit the nail on the head! Your starter contacts are probably bad.

You can get the good ones here:

The hard part is taking the starter out, they are really easy to change.

Hate to bring this back from the dead, but about how long does it take to pull the starter? It actually looks like it's pretty easy to pull, but maybe I didn't see something that would make it more tricky.

It's not hard to pull. You WILL get aggravated at the gorilla that tightened the top bolt though.

Seems to me I remember it being 12pt 10mm. A good selection of extensions will make it easier.

Well good. I'll have it off by breakfast and back on by lunchtime if it's that easy. I ordered a contact kit, but if it's that easy to pull off I'll just go buy contacts from the starter guy around here.
