RAM 3500 no upshifting from 1st gear

I have a problem. Some time ago I notifie a problem when running out from crossroads automatic gearbox was not able to downshift and finally engine stopped. When I started again the problem was gone. Couple of days after that when starting with my truck it is not shifting from first gear. I think that feature is "Limp Mode" because if I disconnect batteries for 15 minutes, truck works normally for first ride untill I stop the engine. After restarting problem is there again. We tried to check the codes but we only get code 1693 (some general fault code I assume). One additional issue that I also discovered is that 4WD indicator seems to work wrong way. When the 4WD stick is in 4WD position indicator is off and when stick is in 2WD position 4WD indicator is illumined. Could these thigns be linked together.

What could be the reason for this? What should I do to get my RAM on the run again. Thanks in advance.

Please fill out the profile, so we know what you have.
Your truck's issues are either from the ground spped signal or the gov. pressure sensor.
first one may be at the bottom of the od section, second one is on the VB.

p1693 is a code for your transmission governor solenoid and transducer that's heading for the trash bin, just had mine replaced 2 weeks ago for the same code and problem, parts alone cost $200. best of luck

WHOA!!! P 1693: ""A fault has been generated in the companion engine control module."" Tranny issues are handled by PCM.
The 4WD light may be a stuck switch or shift motor hoses messed up.
I suspect you have more than just a little trouble getting parts. Due to that fact and need to get fixed first time, perhaps a complete upgraded valve body would be prudent. It appears tranny shifts are O"K when finally made, So perhaps the tranny Ohaul can be delayed. Again I suspect it is difficult to find someone knowledgable of tranny.
